As a historically strategic point in the southern Mediterranean, the beautiful island of Rhodes is alive with a mix of cultural influences. From the Romans, to the Italians, Venetians and Ottomans, they’ve all left their mark with mosques and minarets, while the people are friendly and welcoming.

The pretty village of Pefkos sits on the south coast of Rhodes, just 3 miles from the ancient ruins of Lindos and 1¼ hours from the island’s airport. It has been carefully developed into a lively resort, leaving the shade of olive and pine trees. Opposite the resort’s main beach you’ll find the studios and two bedroom apartments of Matina Apartments Pefkos Rhodes.

For many, a Greek holiday is all about escaping daily hassles and relaxing on a sandy beach with almost guaranteed sun and great food. You’ll certainly find this perfect combination at Matina Apartments Pefkos Rhodes. The beach is stunning and lures you with fine sand shelving into crystal waters, whilst the apartment’s refreshing lagoon pool has picturesque views across the bay. There’s plenty for kids to enjoy too, with a varied programme of activities at the children’s clubs, a playground and their own area of the pool to make friends in.

With well equipped kitchenettes in every studio and apartment, self catering gives you and your family the freedom to come and go when you wish and explore more of Rhodes. In Pefkos you’ll find international restaurants to treat yourself and overlooking the bay at the foot of the mountains, you’ll find tasty tavernas, perfect for a relaxing sundowner.

With so much to see on your doorstep, take at least one day to make your way to Rhodes Town and catch the ferry to Marmaris to explore the sights and sounds of Turkey. The city of Efes, the second biggest in the Roman Empire, is where you’ll see biblical stories brought to life, whilst the geological marvel of Pamukkale is not to be missed. Dubbed the 8th wonder of the world, chalk terraces cascade down the hillside, creating an ethereal white landscape glistening with hot springs, perfect for bathing in.

Back on Rhodes, there are plenty of island tours to take you to the beautiful cobbled streets of Rhodes’ Old Town and give you time to shop and relax in the New Town. A tour is an easy way to visit the 7th century ruins of Kamiros and the stunning Valley of the Butterflies. Here you’ll wander the lush valley in search of the rare Kalimorfa Butterfly before returning to Pefkos to enjoy the village’s sociable bars or just relax on the beach and watch the sun set on another perfect day.
